Calderdale artist Roger Davies is embracing a 'wonderful opportunity' to showcase his work with the opening of his new gallery in Brighouse. Davies, who has been painting full-time since 2018, describes his artwork as 'celebrating aspects of Calderdale in vivid color'. His paintings are brought to life by figures that populate the scenes, capturing the essence of the region's culture and landmarks. Recent subjects include street scenes, shop fronts, cafes, bars, restaurants, and iconic locations like Judy Woods, The Piece Hall, The Rex Cinema, The Ritz Ballroom, and The Shibden Mill Inn. Davies has also set up a studio within his gallery on Bethel Street, where he works on new paintings during opening hours. He believes this new venture provides a unique chance to present his artwork year-round and offer complementary items such as signed prints and custom-made giftware, including mugs, tea towels, greeting cards, engraved pint glasses, jigsaw puzzles, and cushions, all manufactured to the highest standards. Davies invites visitors to come and say hello, browse his latest creations, and immerse themselves in the vibrant world of Calderdale through his art. The gallery is open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm, and on Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm.
