A man in his 30s has been arrested, and 18 cattle have been returned after Gardaí recovered them yesterday. The livestock, consisting of 12 Friesian heifers and 6 Friesian bulls valued at about €30,000, were stolen in a raid on a farm in the Lakelands area of Skibbereen, County Cork, sometime overnight on Monday, 24 November.
Gardaí from the Serious Crime Units in Clonakilty, Bandon, and Bantry, along with the Divisional Search Team and the Department of Agriculture, carried out a search operation in the Ballydehob region of West Cork. The missing cattle were located and recovered yesterday, and a man aged in his 30s has since been arrested.
He is currently detained at a Garda station in County Cork under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
