At one stage, the Grizzlies found themselves behind by as many as nine points late in the final quarter. However, they fought back valiantly, narrowing the gap to just two points with mere seconds left on the clock. Alas, the Wizards held firm under pressure, converting their free throws in the dying moments to seal their win.
This loss is certainly a setback for the Grizzlies, who had entered the game riding high on a two-game winning streak. Had Memphis emerged victorious against Washington, they would have evened their record at .500, but now they must wait a bit longer to achieve that milestone.
This defeat marks the first time since the 2017-18 season that the Grizzlies have been swept by the Wizards, following an earlier loss to them in Memphis earlier this month.
Looking ahead, the Grizzlies are eager to round off the year 2025 with a victory on their home turf against Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers. The game is set to tip-off at 7 p.m. Central Time at the FedEx Forum, with fans able to catch the action on NBC or through streaming on Peacock.
