Despite being born into one of the most illustrious families in Indian cinema, her journey began not with privilege but rather with a significant setback that left her feeling deeply disappointed. In a recent discussion with Harper’s Bazaar India, she opened up about how a failed school audition sparked her passion for acting.
Reflecting on her experiences at Ardingly College in the UK, Suhana recounted her excitement about auditioning for a specific role in a school production. However, when the cast list was revealed, she discovered that she had been assigned to the chorus instead. The disappointment overwhelmed her in ways she hadn’t anticipated. "I was so upset and disappointed. And I think that’s when I knew that I really wanted to play those parts and enjoy the thrill of being on stage," she shared candidly.
In that moment of solitude, Suhana found herself crying in her room, surprised by the depth of her emotional investment in the audition. This realization was pivotal; it confirmed to her that acting was not merely an expectation placed upon her due to her background, but a sincere passion she wanted to pursue. After completing her studies in the UK, Suhana pursued acting at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. In 2023, she made her debut in Zoya Akhtar’s adaptation of The Archies, and she is currently preparing for her theatrical appearance in the action-thriller King, where she is set to star alongside her father, Shah Rukh Khan, playing the role of a protégé to his character, a dark assassin. For Suhana, the process of creating art is more significant than the finished product itself. She believes that the experiences gained during a project will resonate with her far longer than its ultimate success or failure. With her exciting project King on the horizon, Suhana appears dedicated to her development, embracing the journey, and allowing her career to unfold organically.
