We Tried Folkestone's Top-Rated Takeaway: Bandidos Mexican Food Review (2026)

We decided to try the town's top-rated Mexican takeaway, Bandidos, and one dish truly stole the show. Fish and chips, Indian, Chinese - Mexican? It might not be the most conventional choice, but Bandidos has risen to the top of Tripadvisor's food delivery rankings in Folkestone, so it was worth a shot. The delivery arrived promptly, and the food was delivered in a bag that was still warm to the touch, a welcome relief from cold takeaways. Once we laid out the feast, we were amazed by the generous portions. The menu offered a wide range of tempting dishes, and we opted for a large 'beer chilli' nachos, fire-roasted chilli wings, a chicken and chorizo burrito, chicken enchiladas, and three extra dips at £1.50 each. I dove straight into the burrito (£12.95), and it was a burst of flavors. The guacamole blended well with the chicken and rice, but it was the chorizo's salty kick that truly stood out. The nachos, at £14.45, were a generous portion, and we were intrigued by the option to add cheese for an extra £1.50. While it might seem like an extra expense, the large size was well-deserved, with a crumble of beef chilli, guacamole, and sour cream on a king-sized bed of soft nachos. The chilli wings (£6.45 for four) were a delightful surprise, with a crisp exterior, tender meat, and a sweet, smoky barbecue sauce. The enchiladas (£14.45) were a mouthwatering combination of shredded chicken and molten cheese, but the chunky, steak-cut chips were a bit too much to handle alongside everything else. The overall taste was authentic, with a noticeable absence of supermarket spice mixes. However, the experience was not without its challenges. As many parents of young children will know, timing is crucial with takeaways. We ordered too early, and the kids were still awake, which meant I had to read 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' between bites of burrito. Despite this, it only fueled our desire to visit Bandidos restaurant in person and explore their tacos, fajitas, and mojitos. Ratings: Food: The burrito was exceptional, and the portions were generous. **** Drink: We didn't order any, but the cocktail menu looked appealing. N/A Decor: Our kitchen ambiance was adequate. *** Staff: Efficient and prompt delivery. *** Price: £54.30 for the entire order, but you don't need to spend that much to enjoy the food. ****
